This incense holder is inspired by the Eastern legend of Jiang Taigong. The story tells of a gifted strategist who sat beside a river using a straight hook without bait. He was not truly waiting for a fish, but for a leader capable of recognizing what he could offer. King Wen eventually sought him out and made him a trusted adviser, turning the story into a lasting symbol of timing, judgment, and being recognized by the right person.
Its message is not about waiting passively. It represents patience with purpose: staying prepared without chasing every opportunity or abandoning your direction simply because results have not arrived yet. For anyone waiting for an answer, building a long-term project, or deciding on a next step, it offers a reminder to remain ready while keeping your own standards and pace.
The incense stick becomes the fisherman’s slender rod, while the rising smoke resembles morning mist above the river. • Each piece is kiln-fired and hand-colored. Slight variations in facial details, glaze tone, bamboo texture, tiny mineral specks, or natural pores are normal characteristics of ceramic production and do not affect its appearance or function.
• The fisherman incense holder and bamboo-shaped base are two separate pieces. Place the figure securely on the base before gently inserting an incense stick. Do not force the stick into the opening.
• The product requires more space once an angled incense stick is inserted. Leave sufficient clearance around the burning end and keep it away from walls, furniture, and other objects.
• Adjust the figure’s position and the angle of the incense stick so that falling ash lands inside the tray. Keep the holder away from fans, air-conditioning vents, and other strong drafts.
• Place the holder on a level, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Keep it away from flammable materials, children, and pets, and never leave burning incense unattended.
• Allow the incense and holder to cool completely before removing ash with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Do not soak the ceramic pieces or use harsh cleaning products.
• The hat, hands, and raised end of the bamboo base are delicate projecting details. When unpacking or moving the product, support each piece from underneath and avoid impact or pressure.

Even before I put incense in it, I liked the figure sitting on the long base. It looks good with the other small objects on our sideboard. Using the stick as the fishing rod is a nice extra.
