I bought it for the appearance and was equally pleased with the function. The low profile and long tray fit neatly on a narrow piece of furniture. I used it beside a small lamp on the console. It added interest without taking over the tabletop.
The pale blossoms add color, but the dark wood base keeps the design from looking childish. It sits well on a narrow console and has been stable with my incense. I wish the ash tray were just a little longer for sticks that bend as they burn.
The small buds and open flowers are nicely shaped, but they are raised ceramic details. I pick the holder up from the thicker branch area and carry the wooden base separately. The minor glaze variation on mine fits the handmade look.
