This "Serene Maiden" incense burner is crafted from traditional Oriental purple clay (zisha) and features a natural, matte-textured finish. It depicts a woman sitting gracefully, holding a jar, and rests upon an intricately carved base. The figure is purely decorative and does not represent any specific historical or religious personage.
The burner accommodates two types of incense: "backflow" incense cones (which have a hole at the bottom) can be placed atop the jar, allowing the smoke to flow through an internal channel and cascade out from the jar, pooling around the base. Additionally, there is a small hole on the side designed to hold incense sticks. You may use either type individually, or both together, provided the space is well-ventilated.
With its deep purplish-brown hue and delicate sculptural craftsmanship, this piece is an ideal addition to a living room side table, entryway console, study bookshelf, or display cabinet. Even when not in use for burning incense, it serves as an elegant ceramic ornament.

• During the firing process, purple clay may develop slight color variations, tiny pores, natural particles, or surface depth changes, which are normal manifestations of the material and firing process.
• The arms, legs, hair tips, and top parts of the figures, as well as the shapes of the vessels, are relatively detailed parts. When handling or moving the products, please hold the base and do not directly pull the figure or the vessel.
• When using backflow incense, please select an incense cone with a hole at the bottom and align the bottom hole with the top smoke channel. Ordinary incense cones cannot form a stable downward smoke flow.
• When using stick incense, please ensure that the incense stick can be firmly inserted into the side incense hole. If the incense stick is too thick, do not force it in.
• The reverse-flow effect will be affected by indoor air flow, the state of the incense cone, and the cleanliness of the smoke channel. Please avoid fans, air conditioning vents, and areas with strong wind.
• Using both incense types simultaneously will produce more smoke and aroma. Please maintain moderate ventilation, avoid strong air currents, and keep an eye on the product throughout the process.

I like the flowing outline, but I am careful around the finer parts when dusting. I support the base whenever I move it. It's worth that extra care for the design, though a simpler shape would be easier for everyday handling.
I looked at several figure burners, but the shell underneath this one made it the most interesting to me. The dark finish works with the wood cabinet in our living room. I like the piece even before adding incense.
